Promotions Director 

Cumulus Media is seeking a Promotions Director in Des Moines for KGGO, KHKI, KJJY, KWQW and KBGG. Successful candidates will be extremely organized, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and know how to multi-task. Previous experience in event marketing is beneficial and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment is crucial.

Job Description

Regular duties will include planning and execution of NTR events; writing promotional proposals and recaps; maintaining an accurate and detailed calendar of upcoming appearances, contests, and other cluster events; creating station and client on-air and digital promotions; working with sales, programming and management to maximize revenue, ratings and exposure.

General:

  • Report Directly to Market Manager, and work closely with the GSM and Ops Manager
  • Maintain accurate and detailed calendars of upcoming appearances, contests, concerts and sampling opportunities for clients
  • Understand FCC and IRS rules and regulations when executing on-air and web based contests and promotions
  • Oversee remote equipment and tools…including banners, broadcast equipment, etc.
  • Each Friday, provide a report to MM, GSM and OM, which will include the following:
    • All Promotional Events that concluded during that week
    • Any appearances by station scheduled for the following week
    • Any client or station promotions scheduled to begin the following week

Major Station Sales Events:

  • Plan and execute all major radio promotions for our five station cluster, including, but not limited to The World’s Biggest Baby Shower, The Man Show, Putting America Back To Work, etc.  This includes, but is not limited to finding and securing the venue, getting approval for venue expense, and working with vendors such as pipe and drape, etc.
  • Work with GSM and Market Manager to maximize sponsorship opportunities in major station events
  • Oversee the production of promotional announcements for each station event.  Work with Tony.
  • Within ten days of the conclusion of each event, prepare a promotional recap of the event, including pictures and a brief synopsis of the event…including projected attendance, sponsors, etc.  

Client Promotions:

  • On a daily basis, work with the sales team to develop client promotional opportunities.
  • Conduct weekly promo meetings with the Program Directors, General Sales Manager and include sales team as needed.  When additional discussion is required with the AE, invite them to the promo meeting to discuss further
  • Communicate with Sellers and the Program Directors when it comes to client promotional opportunities and activities
  • Oversee Email blasts which may include writing copy, and creating content

National Client Promotions:

  • Oversee the execution of national client promotions
  • Work with Cumulus National Sellers, and me on national contesting
  • Be the liaison for local contacts for live broadcasts for national clients
  • Prepare regular promotional recaps for national clients

Cumulus Radio-Des Moines is currently searching for a Sales Representative to join us in Des Moines.   We own radio stations KGGO, KJJY, KHKI, KWQW and KBGG-AM

JOB REQUIREMENTS

•   New business to business experience preferred with recognition as top-performer

•   Minimum of 1 year outside sales experience required; 2 or more years preferred with ability to penetrate new business categories

•   Strong understanding of lead generation, CRM and account management

•   Cultivation of long standing client relationships

•   Media sales background preferred, not required

•   Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet/Intranet)

•   Bachelors degree preferred
