(LONDON) -- For many Americans, their first look at the slums in India was in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. But a new census report illustrates just how dire the situation has become.
According to the latest statistics, one in six people in India's urban areas live in conditions that are not suitable for human habitation.
While the census found more than 60 million people living in unsanitary shanty towns with no indoor toilets, 70 percent of them had televisions and 64 percent had cellphones.
