(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- A 22-year-old man lost the tip of his finger in a gun accident Sunday night.
According to the Des Moines Register, the man was cleaning his gun at approximately 6 p.m. After finishing the cleaning, he apparently loaded the gun. When he later pulled the trigger to ensure that the weapon was operational, the tip of his finger was shot off.
According to the Register, the tip of the man's finger hit his mother, who was in the room with him. The mother drove the victim to the hospital, where both of them gave police the same account of the incident.
The case is not considered suspicious. The tip of the finger was not recovered, police told the Register.
