(NEW YORK) -- Adding to a streak of record closes, the Dow on Wednesday added 5.22 points to finish at 14,445.28. The blue chips index notched its seventh record close in a row.
The Nasdaq Composite gained 2.80 points to close at 3,245.12, while the S&P 500 added 2.04 points, closing at 1,554.52.
A lot of people saw a cut in their pay at the begining of the year when the payroll tax cut expired, but it didn't stop them from spending. Retail sales rose more than a percent last month.
