(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- The Des Moines Park and Recreation Board is considering naming a dog park after a fallen police dog.

The park, located at 3520 Hubbell Avenue, may be named Reno Memorial Dog Park if the board has its way. The name Reno was chosen to commemorate the long-serving, decorated Des Moines police dog K9 Reno, who died this past fall.

There will be a public hearing to discuss the naming of the park on Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 400 Robert D. Ray Drive.
