(WAVERLY, Iowa) -- Two men were killed in an accident involving a grain bin on Thursday.

According to the Des Moines Register, the victims were Rick Schneider and his son, Adam. The Schneiders were apparently checking the grain bin because of a small fire that had occurred inside on Wednesday. They entered the bin at about 1 p.m. and were pulled out, unconscious, at about 2:15 p.m.

According to the Register, the men were trapped underneath several feet of corn and probably died of lack due to lack of oxygen.

Both men were taken to Waverly Health Center, where they were pronounced dead.
