(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- A teenage boy was arrested over the weekend after allegedly leading police on a short chase.
Des Moines Police say on Saturday, following a report of an SUV being driven without the owner's consent, officers attempted to pull over the involved vehicle in the area of South Union and Chaffee Road in Des Moines.
The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle allegedly then led police on a chase, and at some point crashed into a police vehicle, according to a police statement. Police officials add that during the confrontation, an officer fired a shot at the SUV, however, there were no reports of anyone being hit.
The teen driver was eventually taken into custody and charged with two counts of assault on a police officer with intent to inflict serious injury, two counts of assault on a police officer with a dangerous weapon and possession of marijuana.
