(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- A man who was injured in a hit-and-run collision in Des Moines on Saturday, has died.

The incident happened early Saturday morning in the area of Sixth Avenue and College. Des Moines Police say 58-year-old Clayton Evan Payne was attempting to cross the street, when he was struck by a vehicle.

Payne was taken to an area hospital, where he died on Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene of the collision.
