(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- An Iowa Republican operative is among 80 prominent Republicans, who signed a brief in support of gay marriage, The Des Moines Register reports.
David Kochel, who was the top Iowa strategist for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and other Republicans who signed argue that same-sex marriage promotes both conservative and family values. The brief also supports the plaintiffs who are challenging California's same-sex marriage ban, Proposition 8, the paper says.
The brief is set to be filed on Wednesday to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to the Register.
